Yant Suriyapob & Chandrapob (Solar & Lunar Eclipse Yantras of Phra Rahu)
Paired circular eclipse yantras—Yant Suriyapob (Solar Radiance) and Yant Chandrapob (Lunar Radiance)—hand-inscribed onto the reverse of one-eyed coconut shell (Kala Ta Diaw) Phra Rahu carvings at Wat Srisathong.
Designed as paired concentric solar and lunar disks ringed by lotus petals and Khom syllables derived from the canonical Suriya Sutta (SN 2.10) and Candima Sutta (SN 2.9), where the Buddha instructs Rahu, Lord of Asuras, to release the sun and moon.
Standardized by Luang Phor Noi Nawarat (BE 2435–2488) of Wat Srisathong in Nakhon Pathom Province, an ethnic Lao-Mon community. In traditional craftsmanship, one half of the coconut shell is inscribed with Yant Suriyapob during a solar eclipse and the companion half with Yant Chandrapob during a lunar eclipse.
